Well then, I guess I made it better? Glad I could help, I guess? [Seems like a strange thing to take credit for, though. Feels weird.]

What I meant was, the first time we spoke on the network, he seemed much more, well, not friendly, I suppose, but more open to discussion. We shared a lot of theories back and forth regarding the anomalies and the nature of the town. He didn't seem so angry or hopeless.

I guess what I was wondering is if he's just different in person, or if that was an especially bad time. Some of those sentiments were a little worrying.

A fair question. I think, mostly, that that night was an especially bad time. That said, he's always angry and hopeless, but this town is a puzzle. Puzzles are how he copes, which is why he'll jump at the chance to bounce his theories off of people. [Especially on the Network, where he can hide behind his screen. Wilson will keep that to himself, though.] It's a bit difficult to puzzle over a child's death, though.

You're right: it's hard to justify death. At least, civilian deaths. [Er, was that weird to say?]

I do still find it worrisome that he can't handle things he can't solve, but on another level, I guess I understand it. Taking the world apart to see what makes it work, it's easier that way to make sense of things, or at least to string together some semblance of sense. And if he has that as an outlet for now, it should be fine, right?

Yes, I think you're exactly right. He should be fine as long as he has an outlet. You don't need to worry.

[Wilson is very aware that that just flat out isn't true, but Hange doesn't need to concern themselves over House any more than House needs more people fussing over him. Wilson's got that covered. Mostly.]

In any case, if any one person stuck in this town can find a way to get us home, it's House. He's miserable, but he's a genius. All of us our a little safer with his brain on our team.

I don't doubt his intelligence. He seems to have figured out quite a bit, or at least made important steps toward it.

I guess him being so useful was one of the reasons I felt concerned. We can't exactly afford to lose someone like him.
